Its peak power is 201 hp at 12,750 rpm, 31 hp more than in the new 2024 S 1000 XR. The maximum torque of 83 lb-ft. is reached at 11,000 rpm.
BMW has overhauled the S1000 XR adventure-sports tourer with better equipment and a more powerful motor for 2024. None of the changes are especially earth-shattering, but add them all up and you should have a much-improved motorcycle. Let’s look at the updates one-by-one. BMW boosted output from 165 hp to 170 hp at 11,000 rpm.
The KTM’s 300cc advantage over the BMW means its V-Twin’s hp curve towers over the S1000XR throughout the rev range. Add in the KTM’s 94.5 lb-ft of torque compared to the BMW’s 79.8 and, without a doubt, the big, booming engine is the crowning jewel of the Super Duke GT. “What a kick-ass engine!” exclaims Evans.
