You might try disconnecting the negative battery cable, leave it off for at least an hour and then reconnect it and see where you are. I cannot reset the system in my idrive. In the place where FTM should be located, my menu shows TPM instead. I understand, and have verified that I do not have the TPMS system, but rather the older FTM system. However, my idrive shows TPM which is greyed out, and will not let me select any reset options. Open Task Manager. Open Windows task manager. You can find this by pressing down the “ctrl,” “shift,” and “escape” keys or right-clicking the taskbar along the bottom of the screen. Go CD players just get old. I took mine out of the car and cranked the diode power up. It works better now but I still usually have to pop the cd in and out to get it to read. Remove the key from the key fob first. You will see a little slit and you just need to prey a little to pop the square battery cover off. The climate controls work, but without the graphics, it's ok for me since I use "auto" most of the time. Total cost was just above $3K, including everything (plastics, wiring, parts, iDrive touch controller). Having done this retrofit, I wouldn't go for the cheapest kit out there, and I would certainly not attempt to source all parts individually. KmrPh.
